LONDON - A UK dad has turned his three-year-old son into a superhero by writing a children’s book.

Jake McIntyre has become Super Magic Lightning Boy. And his cat, Dixie, is his awesome sidekick.

“Every little boy dreams of being a superhero and I thought it would be pretty cool if I made Jake into one,” the Daily Mail quoted father, Scott as saying.

“So I wrote him into an old-fashioned swashbuckling adventure story and he loves it.He tells people, I’m Super Magic Lightning Boy. And he’s got the hero pose, with his hands on his hips and his cape flying in the background, down to a tee.”

First-time author Scott, a goldsmith by day, failed his Higher English and never thought he’d end up a writer.

But the dad-of-two from Eaglesham, Glasgow, picked up his pen after being disappointed by the children’s books he had to read to Jake.

Most of them were filled with morals and messages about good behaviour - and he wanted something more fun.

The rhyming book tells the story of the nasty tree pelting the hero with apples. But with his superpower, which makes him extra, speedy he spins around it and ties it up in a knot.

After an encounter with a scary spider, Super Magic Lightning Boy, like many children’s characters, goes home to his mum for a bath and bed.

Having written the book in January last year, Scott asked his friend, artist Laura Raine, to illustrate it.

“It was quickly snapped up by children’s publisher Maverick Press and released last September.

The publisher even made McIntyre up his very own superhero suit. (ANI)
