Huge cache of explosives recovered in Rajouri

RAJOURI - A huge cache of explosives, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), was seized by security forces from a militant hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
Acting on a tip off, personnel of the Rashtriya Rifles launched a combing operation in Pir Panjal range and recovered the explosives from the spot.
Army considers the recovery, as a major success since it took place prior to the R-Day celebrations.
“During the Republic Day, the activities and moment of Army and civilians increase and crowd gather in the functions. If the militants use these IEDs in crowded places, then there can be a huge loss of lives and property. So this recovery indicates establishment of safety,” said Colonel Neeraj Sood, Commanding Officer, XIV Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles.
The seized items included 3 IEDs, five under barrel grenade launchers, five grenades, five Chinese grenades, five rocket-propelled grenade shells and 79 rounds of bullets. (ANI)
