NEW YORK CITY (GaeaTimes.com)- Following the declaration of a state emergency schools and colleges in New York have also declared for dismissal of classes. The National Weather Service on Tuesday announced that a major snow storm is likely to hit the state on Wednesday. The snow storm is expected to dump in atleast 8 to 14 inches of snow in the region. Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday afternoon announced for a state emergency urging for school closings.
The Mayor infact has requested the entire mass to stay indoors for the stepping out could ensue some harm as meteorologists say that the snow storm would be one that is likely to have one more devastating effect on the state. It was not much time ago when New York City experienced a massive blizzard that had hit the area going on to paralyze the area with its massive effects. The blizzard that took place only a few weeks had drawn in several criticisms for Michael Bloomberg since the New York Mayor had failed to respond to the situation early. This time, however, he has made it clear that he is not willing to take any chances. After the news of the emergency broke out on Tuesday, many schools on the same day were seen issuing out notices for closings on Wednesday.
While St. John’s University, Queens and Stony Brook University in Long Island have already declared to remain closed on Tuesday, many others are yet to give the final notice to the students and guardians. It is not the school closings that are coming up due to the emergency declared in New York . The announcement of the news also led several airlines to cancel their flights scheduled for Wednesday.
