AMRITSAR - Sikhs thronged the Golden Temple here on Tuesday and took a holy dip in the water tank located inside the complex on the occasion of the 345th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.
Baldev Singh, a devotee, said he came to the Golden Temple for a holy dip.
“Patna is the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. The birth anniversary of the guru is being celebrated at the Golden Temple very well. Devotees are coming here with full devotion and celebrating the occasion,” said Singh.
On the occasion, a religious procession was taken out from the Golden Temple.
Despite heavy fog and chilly weather, a large number of devotees converged for the procession to pay their obeisance.
Harjinder Mool Singh, a devotee, said the guru sacrificed his life to save Sikhism from the cruelty and forced conversion of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
“Today is Guru Gobind Singh’s birthday. To abolish the cruelty from the world, the tenth guru sacrificed his life. Guru Sahib has made many efforts to save mankind and Sikh religion from brutality,” said Singh.
“I want to congratulate the Sikhs all over the world, and all those who have faith in Sikhism,’ he added. (ANI)
