SYDNEY - Scottish Indian comedian Danny Bhoy, who is a self-confessed hobo, has revealed that he went through a very nervous time while trying to gain citizenship in Australia.

Bhoy, 36, who was confirmed as a permanent resident last year, revealed that he suffered an ethical dilemma then a nervous wait after the immigration panel requested tickets to watch his show in Canberra.

Part of his routine included a savage mockery of Australia’s parliamentary culture in which Bhoy slammed Kevin Rudd and co as being childish.

“I was so worried that I’d say something that would offend them and my application would be denied, I didn’t know whether to keep it in,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bhoy as saying.

“The routine was all about how ridiculous and childish the whole parliamentary thing is, you know when the actual issue becomes completely lost.

“All that shouting and point scoring where if it were your own kids you’d tell them to grow up,” he said.

Bhoy stuck to his routine and brought the house down with his risky political rant, purposefully avoiding eye contact with his visa guardians by declining to find out where they were sat.

Two weeks later, just before a gig in Brisbane, he received the news his permanent residency had been approved, meaning no more inconvenient day trips to New Zealand midway through tours. (ANI)
