An average Briton doesn’t get the hang of driving till 59!

LONDON - The average Briton is unable to get the hang of driving till they turn 59, a study found.

A survey of 4,000 motorists found that those aged 59 are least likely to have crashed a car in the last 12 months, suffer road rage or been stopped by police, reports the Daily Express.

They are also less likely to be caught speeding or have been slapped with fines.

24-year-olds, on the other hand, were more likely to chat on their phone, run a red light or frighten others with their driving.

More than half of those aged 59 said they drive calmly. The majority of those aged 24 admit being “impatient” behind the wheel.

The retired may drive too slowly at times, but they are only distracted half as much as those with just a few years experience.

Tim Bailey, safety expert for Continental Tyres, which commissioned the research, said, “It is shocking that it takes such a long time after passing your test to become a good driver.” (ANI)
