LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (GaeaTimes.com)- The hottest chili pepper of the world is undoubtedly the Naga Viper, it has been concluded. Amazing as it may sound to some people, this chili pepper is not cultivated either in Mexico or India. It is grown in a snow dominated province of UK. This is the result of the endeavor of a chili farmer hailing from northwest England. He succeeded in crossbreeding three separate variants of pepper to make the Naga Viper. Those who have tasted it admits that it is indeed the hottest chili pepper they have ever eaten in their life. It makes the tongue of the eater numb. The sensation stays for quite some time and during that time the person who consumes it does not feel like talking or eating anything.

The Naga Viper reached 1,359,000 on Scoville scale, which is used for calculating the level of capsaicin in chili. It is a chemical responsible for the burning and numbing sensation peppers can create. The second hottest pepper named the Bhut Jolokia reached 300,000 on the scale. On an average, the Naga Viper is almost 270 times hotter than regular jalapeno pepper.

The researchers at the Warwick University have also agreed that by far it is the hottest chili pepper found. British chili farmer Gerald Fowler is hogging the headlines these days thanks to this chili pepper. He also tried a curry made with this Naga Viper. It is true that a lot of people would not be able to stand the taste. However, he claims that at the end it is good for the human body. The claim has to be proven scientifically though.
