LONDON - Harpreet Aulakh, the Brit-Indian husband who hired contract killers to murder his wife, was caught on CCTV laughing and joking as he bought a 13.99 pound machete from a shop in Hounslow that was apparently used to murder his wife after she asked for a divorce.

According to the Daily Mail, 32-year-old Aulakh had ordered two men to ambush Geeta Aulakh, 28, in a quiet residential street as she walked to collect their two young sons from a childminder.

He had reportedly carefully examined an assortment of weapons including a Ninja sword, a BB gun and a powerful catapult, before choosing the machete.

During the attack, her right hand was severed as she desperately tried to protect her head and face from a teenager thought to have been brought into the UK illegally to attack her, the paper said.

Aulakh was unanimously convicted of murder yesterday, after a six-week trial at the Old Bailey. He was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 28 years. e reportedly glanced up to the public gallery and smiled as he was sentenced.

The paper quoted Justice Saunders as saying that: “It was a pointless, cold-blooded killing of a woman no one apart from Sunny Aulakh had a bad word to say about.”

Nineteen-year-old Sher Singh, who carried out the attack, was given a life sentence and a minimum of 22 years in prison. He was reportedly flown into Britain four months before the murder on a student visa, which was arranged by Aulakh. (ANI)
