MUMBAI - A major fire broke out in a shopping complex in Mumbai’s Andheri area on Friday morning.

Owners of shops in the building alleged that the fire was sparked off deliberately.

“The builder wanted to re-allot the shops and we were against it. We did not agree for that. We told him to carry out a meeting with the tenants. How we will manage to feed our children? They agreed for a meeting and 25 days back they came to survey the building,” said Rakesh, a proprietor of a shop.

Over 10 fire engines along eight water tankers with a couple of ambulances were rushed to the spot.

“We have extinguished the fire. We will find out whether the shops had the license or not,” said Uday Tatkare, the chief fire official.

Tatkare further said there was a firecrackers shop nearby, which added to the problem. (ANI)
