LONDON - A woman in UK has become the first single mum to reach the final of Miss Great Britain.
Charlotte Campbell, 23, who has son Bobby, aged 2 and half, is a black belt in martial art Taekwondo, and aims for a place in history after the rules were relaxed this year for the first time since the contest began 65 years ago.
“It’s an honour to be the first single mum in the final,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
“I represent the many women in my situation who are battling against stereotypes of young single parents and facing daily challenges of raising a child alone.
“I still want to chase my dreams. I hope to be an inspiration to women who want a career after having children,” she stated.
Campbell reached the final after being crowned Miss York City, and she is now limbering up for the last stage by pole dancing.
After the competition, she aims to return to university and become a teacher.
The Miss GB rule-change let mums enter the contest. There are four others in the final, but all have partners. (ANI)
