LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (GaeaTimes.com)- A new record was set in a provincial auction house in Britain last night as a Chinese Vase raked in $83 million. The Chinese antique which was made in 18th century was traced during a clean up of a dusty attic in London outskirts. The Porcelain Vase’s origin can be traced back to Qianlong dynasty. The vase belonged to a brother sister duo who inherited the vase after the demise of their parents. They stumbled upon the Vase by chance while cleaning the house but never expected it would get auctioned for such an amount. Helen Porter on behalf of the auction House remarked the owners “had no idea what they had. They were hopeful but they didn’t dare believe until the hammer went down.”
It is possible that the Chinese vase was bought by the English family way back in the 1930s. However, how the vase was found in North West London is a mystery. The auctioneer said that it was a very important vase of the era it belongs to. The owners of the vase were stunned by the price it fetched and when the final bid was declared they were taken out of the auction room for coping with the shock!
The Chinese vase belongs to the Qianlong period and in the regime of the dynasty China reached the zenith of arts and sculpture. The Emperor was an art lover and promoted its application. The body of the vase is elaborately decorated and painted in blue and yellow. The auctioneer said it was a piece of exquisite beauty but the price it fetched was unexpected.
