Eunice Sanborn Becomes World’s Oldest Woman

JACKSONVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Eunice Sanborn who resides in Jacksonville in the state of Texas has added a new feather to her cap. The elderly lady was suddenly in the limelight on Thursday after she was named the oldest woman all across the globe. The rather unique title was bestowed upon the Jacksonville, Texas resident after Eugenie Blanchard, a French nun who was known to be the oldest woman in the world died on Thursday in the French Caribbean island of St. Barts.

However, the rather unique achievement of Eunice Sanborn is not without its share of controversy as the present age of the world’s woman has turned into a bone of contention. Although the US Census Bureau states that the Jacksonville resident was born in the year 1896 which makes her 114 years old, her family emphasizes that the birth data that is one the records of the bureau is a mistake. According to her family, the current world’s oldest woman record holder is 115 years of age as he was born way back in the year 1895, a year earlier that what has been recorded by the US Census Bureau. According to reports, Eunice Sanborn did not have much to say when she was informed about the unique recognition that she now holds. The only thing that she said after being informed of her feat was “Oh, think of that” although she enquired about the previous record holder.

Eunice Sanbon’s family says that the woman was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on July 20, 1895 and has been staying in Jacksonville after her first husband Joseph Orchin passed away. Now, she stays under 24-hour care with her adopted son and his wife.
