NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Dhanteras is just round the corner. According to the Indian calender this year, Dhanteras 2010 is scheduled on November 3, while Diwali is just days after that, in November 5.
As the day is marked with bringing “Dhan” or wealth into our lives, before the worship of Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, people are now flocking jewelery shops in order to bring home their share of wealth. Most of the consumerism is reported from the Gujaratis, Marwaris and Punjabis. The World Gold Council had earlier reported that there will be 40% extra sales of gold this year. However, their hypothesis is not totally correct as the reduction in the stock of gold has resulted in a steep price rise of this valued metal. The cost of gold has increased to Rs 80 per ten gm, thereby increasing the price to Rs 19,745 per ten gm. A huge marginal difference has made many middle class consumers incline towards silver, Gold ETF, diamond and electronics for Dhanteras 2010, which is also considered as good investments and a significant part of personal wealth. Many people prefer to buy electronics right before Dhanteras, as most of the electronics stores offer good discounts during this period. However, even silver has witnessed a huge price rise and recorded an all-time-high of Rs 38,295, which is a leap by Rs 385 per kg. This increase has also been made for the festive demands.
The spirit of Diwali and Dhanteras 2010 has pumped up even more as many are getting busy with their home cleanings and renovations. A dash of Rangoli is being spotted in every household of India, while the women are all set to prepare sweets and delicacies to boost the festive spirit.
