J-K: 2 militants killed in Kulgam, 3 miscreants arrested in Srinagar

KULGAM/SRINAGAR - Two militants were killed in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area whereas three miscreants allegedly involved in abetting riots were arrested by police here on Monday.

In the first incident, following a specific information by police in Srinagar, a joint team of police from Srinagar and Kulgam along with 1-Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint operation in Kaw Drang area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Qoimoh Kulgam.

The joint team killed two militants this afternoon and one militant was arrested today. Both these militants were killed in the open fields.

Identification of the slain militants have been ascertained as Mohammad Salim Ganai aka Faisal resident of Haff Shirmaal Shopian and another as Hassan Bhai, a foreigner.

Both of them were affiliated with the Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. The arrested militant has been identified as Azad Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Karim Bhat resident of Awat Shirmaal Shopian.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the slain militants.

In Srinagar, Police arrested three miscreants allegedly involved in fomenting, abetting and organizing stone pelting and shut downs in Srinagar.

They have been identified as Sajad Mushtaq Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat resident of Rajbagh Srinagar, Aaquib Sameer Ganai son of Abdul Ahad Ganai resident of Tulsibagh and Asim Farooq Mir son of Farooq Ahmad Mir resident of Ikhrajpora, Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar. (ANI)
