Security forces battle with militants hiding in a village house of Kashmir

KULGAM - Security forces have been engaged in a gun fire since Friday (Jan.22) with three militants, who have hidden themselves inside a village house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Acting on a specific information, Police and security forces cordoned off a house in Rampora-Qaimoh village, about 80 kilometers from Srinagar, on Friday (Jan.22).

Last reports till Saturday afternoon indicated that the operation was intensified.

“The firing was there whole night and it stopped 7:30 in the morning. Since then the area has been cordoned off. There is a huge deployment of security personnel here, all the civilians are safe, search operation is on,” said Hameed, a local resident.

The encounter comes as Border Security Force (BSF) personnel launched a massive search operation following the discovery of holes cut into the fence along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu district. (ANI)
