Moscow, Oct 6 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Russian capital city Moscow has around 500 people over 100 years of age, a senior official has said.
“About 500 people above 100 years old live in Moscow, and this is our city’s joy. The average life expectancy is increasing,” Lyudmila Shvetsova, the acting first deputy mayor, said.
She said when the city residents turn 100, the Moscow administration grants each of them 25,000 rubles ($832), and then 10,000 rubles ($333) annually.
“The money is not very great, but it’s a sign of consideration for these people,” Shvetsova said.
