Nevada teenager missing in canyons near Hoover Dam
BOULDER CITY, Nev. — The National Park Service says authorities plan to resume their search for a Nevada teenager believed missing along the Colorado River south of Hoover Dam.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area officials say Las Vegas police and Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopters were to restart their search at dawn Tuesday for 16-year-old Shane McNeil in an area near where a cell phone signal was last picked up.
Park Service rangers and search-and-rescue teams searched on the ground and river until sunset Monday.
Officials say McNeil’s mother in Henderson, Nev., reported him missing late Saturday.
Authorities believe McNeil was in a popular hiking area surrounded by sheer cliffs and loose rock near the Nevada side of the river.
