Dallas officers fired for alleged roles in beating
DALLAS — Two Dallas officers facing criminal charges for their alleged roles in a suspect’s beating that was captured on police video have been fired.
The announcement Thursday by Chief David Brown brings to three the number of officers kicked off the Dallas force over the beating that happened after a chase.
Officers Paul Bauer and Henry Duetsch (DEETCH’) were accused of insubordination. The department claims Bauer used unnecessary force and Duetsch repositioned a video camera so it wouldn’t show the beating.
Both face a felony charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. Bauer faces misdemeanor charges of assault and official oppression.
The officers didn’t immediately return phone calls seeking comment Thursday.
