Hindi Diwas Celebrated In Schools

NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Hindi Diwas is celebrated across India on September 14 as on the same day in 1949, Hindi was adopted as the official language of India. Every year the day is celebrated across schools where functions are held and Hindi poems and song are performed. Considering that Hindi is the most widely spoken language in India, the day holds immense significance for all the Indians.
September 14 is considered an important day as the constituent assembly adopted the language on the same date. On the 61st anniversary of the adoption of the language officially, Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi, India’s capital celebrates the day with function where patrons of the language are honored for their work in Hindi. In the award distribution ceremony, in honor of Hindi Diwas, the vice president of India will hand out the Rajiv Gandhi Gyan-Vigyan Moulik Pustak Lekhan Puraskar and Indira Gandhi Raj Bhasha Puraskar for the best original book written in Hindi and also work done in Hindi in the public offices of the Indian state and union government. There is also an award for the Hindi publications in ministries and PSUs called the Grih Patrika Puraskar. The last award also covers the work done in the house journals and other corporate literatures in Hindi across the nation.
Hindi is not only spoken widely across India but also spoken across other countries. With several Indians and Pakistanis settling down in other parts of the world, Hindi has become an almost global language. There was also a buzz in recent years that Hindi will be adopted as one of the official languages in the United Nations. The Hindi Diwas thus holds a special significance for all those who have experienced the sweetness of the beautiful Hindi language.
