10 killed in Pak roadside bomb blast

PESHAWAR - At least 10 people were killed and six others injured in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s Central Kurram Agency.

According to reports, the incident occurred in Dol Ragha village, when a passenger van was targeted with a remote-controlled bomb device.

“It was a remote-controlled bomb, which was detonated as soon as a passenger van got there,” The BBC quoted Hamid Khan, the region’s deputy administrator, as saying.

Security forces have cordoned off the area after the blast and started investigations.

The explosion comes days after a similar incident in which a militants’ convoy was hit by a roadside bomb at Mirandi Road. At least 12 militants were killed in the blast and several were injured.

The region is close to the Afghan border, which has suffered outbreaks of violence between Sunni and Shiite Muslims.

Over 4,000 people have died in outbreaks of sectarian violence between the groups since the late 1980s. (ANI)
