MIRAMSHAH/PESHAWAR - A US drone strike has killed seven more people, including some suspect terrorists, and has left four others wounded, at Maizer village in North Waziristan.

This was the third strike by US drones in Pakistan in a span of 24 hours, The News quoted government officials, as saying.

Two missiles were fired at a double-cabin pick-up truck, which was reportedly carrying militants at Maizer village of Dattakhel area in North Waziristan, said tribal sources.

According to sources, the missile split the truck into pieces, and the bodies of the people inside were mutilated.

Five CIA-operated spy planes were hovering over the region on Saturday, sources added.

It was the 49th missile strike by US spy planes in North Waziristan this year, official sources claimed.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the seven suspected militants who were killed in US missile strikes in North Waziristan’s tribal region near the Afghan border on Friday, have been laid to rest.

There have been over 200 strikes, which have killed over 900 people, mostly civilians, in the troubled northwest tribal areas of Pakistan since 2008.

Recently, a report by a top UN official had criticized the Obama administration for continuing the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) operated drone attacks in the semi-autonomous tribal areas of Pakistan, as it has resulted in countless civilian deaths. (ANI)
