Anguilla airport cancels night flights due to Earl

THE VALLEY, Anguilla — The tourism-dependent island of Anguilla has temporarily halted nighttime flights while it repairs a radar beacon knocked out by Hurricane Earl.

Caribbean airline LIAT spokesman Desmond Brown says the carrier has rescheduled its roundtrip flight from Antigua to arrive and depart before sunset.

American Eagle also flies regularly to Anguilla, but during daylight hours.

Hurricane Earl forced the closure of the C.J. Lloyd International Airport earlier this week.

The nighttime restriction has been in place since it reopened Thursday, and it’s not clear how long repairs will take.

Anguilla officials did not return calls for comment Saturday.
