Mazda August sales down 25 percent

IRVINE, Calif. — Mazda North American Operations said Wednesday that its August sale dropped 25.6 percent, a decline is attributed to a big boost in sales a year ago from the Cash for Clunkers federal rebate program.
BY THE NUMBERS: Mazda sold 19,739 vehicles in August, down from 26,542 in August 2009.
TOP SELLER: The compact sedan Mazda3. The automaker sold 9,063 in August.
HOT MODELS: The Mazda CX-9. Sales of the crossover SUV rose 38 percent to 2,687 vehicles.
