LONDON - The pregnant wife of one of the 33 trapped miners in Chile has said that she would give girth to a baby girl in absence of her husband but he would be with her “in spirit” during the delivery.

“Ariel wrote me a letter…he is sad that he will still be in the mine when the baby arrives. It will be so difficult to give birth without him by my side, but I know he will be with me in spirit,” The Sun quoted the miner’s wife, Elizabeth Rochas said.

“I’ll name her Carolina Elisabeth Ariela, after her father. He is so happy to be having a girl,” she added.

Ariel Ticona Yanez, who has two sons aged nine and five, is one of four members of his family who are trapped.

On August 5, in a gold and copper mine near the town of Copiapo in Chile, many of the mine workers managed to escape to the surface after a mine collapsed but 33 were trapped inside.

Now, Chilean authorities are reportedly exploring ways to keep them safe and out of depression by sending fresh clothes, medicine and games down 2,300 feet bore hole. (ANI)
