A ‘Tarzan’ in a Chinese city

BEIJING - Du’s tree house is made of plastic and dead wood. But unlike the ape man of the Tarzan fable who lives in jungle, Du lives near a busy intersection of a Chinese city.
He lives alone in his nest, just 200 meters away from a crossing in Shijiazhuang city, the provincial capital of Hunan, reports People’s daily.
Du, 43, told reporters that he can climb up to his tree house within five seconds and earns a living by selling discarded plastic bottles.
He eats just a bun daily to survive and a plastic sheet covers his nest. He said he earlier lived in a box but was driven out and found the tree about a month ago.
A security guard at a nearby bank said the man usually lingers around in the daytime and goes back to the tree at night to sleep. He never disturbs passers-by, but people usually worry about him.
