Zynga woos Asia with poker game in Chinese

NEW YORK — Zynga, the fast-growing company best known for the online social game “FarmVille,” is expanding into Asia.

The game company is launching a test version of “Zynga Texas Poker” in Mandarin.

Facebook users in Taiwan and Hong Kong will be able to play the game starting Wednesday. But the game won’t be available in mainland China because Facebook is blocked there.

Zynga says more than 28 million people play its poker game each month on Facebook.

All told, the privately held company based in San Francisco says more than 360 million people play its game each month on Facebook and other platforms.
