Aid groups again denied access to Darfur camp

UNITED NATIONS — The U.N. says Sudanese authorities have again prevented aid workers from entering a camp for 80,000 displaced people in South Darfur after allowing the delivery of fuel for water pumps and urgently needed medicine.

United Nations deputy spokesman Farhan Haq says representatives of U.N. agencies and humanitarian organizations tried to return to Kalma Camp on Tuesday to further assess the needs of the displaced Darfuris there, but access was denied.

Sudanese authorities had prevented humanitarian workers from entering the camp for two weeks until Monday when an assessment team delivered some medicine and fuel to operate the water pumps.
