Tribune gets more time in bankruptcy case, will propose new deadlines Friday

Bankruptcy judge gives Tribune more time

WILMINGTON, Del. — A Delaware judge has agreed to again extend deadlines in the Tribune Co.’s bankruptcy as the company continues negotiating with creditors.

The judge moved several deadlines in the case earlier this month to give parties time to respond to an independent examiner’s report on the media conglomerate’s 2007 leveraged buyout and potential claims arising from it.

But Tribune filed a motion late last week saying it would be unwise to stick to the current time frame given the state of negotiations aimed at developing a consensual reorganization plan.

While no new dates were set Tuesday, the judge did void this Friday’s deadline to vote on the reorganization plan.

Attorneys for Tribune said they would suggest new deadlines at previously scheduled hearing on Friday.
