Obama, Karzai agree to keep pressure on Taliban
WASHINGTON — President Obama is agreeing with President Karzai that the United States and Afghanistan should continue to work together to keep the pressure on the Taliban, fight terrorism and protect the Afghan people.
The two leaders spoke for an hour on a video teleconference Friday and discussed a number of topics, including upcoming Afghan parliamentary elections, anti-corruption efforts, civilian casualties and delivering basic services to people. The White House said Ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Gen. David Petraeus, the top commander in Afghanistan, also participated in the video teleconference from Kabul.
