Iran digging graves for US troops if they attack

TEHRAN, Iran — A Revolutionary Guard commander says Iran has dug mass graves in which to bury U.S. troops in case of any American attack on the country.

The announcement appears to be a show of bravado after the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Adm. Mike Mullen, said last week that the U.S. military has a contingency plan to attack Iran although he thinks a military strike is probably a bad idea.

Hossein Kan’ani Moghadam, the Guard’s deputy commander, is quoted by the semiofficial Fars news agency as saying the graves have been dug in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province where Iran buried Iraqi soldiers killed during their 1980-88 war.

Moghadam says Iran will attack U.S. bases in the Gulf if American forces carry out strikes on Iran.
