Charred human remains found on New Mexico ranch

SANTA ROSA, N.M. — State and local authorities in New Mexico are investigating the discovery of charred skeletal human remains inside a burned vehicle found near Santa Rosa.

The Guadalupe County Communicator reported that someone made the discovery Wednesday behind a barn on the River Ranch, about five miles down a series of rocky and rutted roads behind a Stuckey’s eatery off Interstate 40.

Authorities believe the remains are of two people, but their gender couldn’t be determined.

The area was cordoned off and investigators worked into the night. State police also conducted an aerial survey of the scene.
