PESHAWAR - At least two policemen were killed and 14 other injured when some 200 militants attacked a police checkpost near Peshawar on Monday morning.

No militant group has claimed the responsibility for the attack, the Xinhua news agency reports.

It follows the July 23 attack on Gulshan-e-Ravi and Lytton Road police stations in Lahore.

Two terrorists riding on a motorbike had opened fire on a police van outside Gulshan-e-Ravi police station, and two police vans were badly damaged in two low-intensity blasts outside Lytton Road police station, killing one policeman and injuring five others.

The injured were immediately shifted to Mayo Hospital where two of them are reported to be critical. (ANI)
