‘Inception’ lingers at No. 1 with $42.7M weekend

LOS ANGELES — Leonardo DiCaprio’s thriller “Inception” held on to the top berth at the weekend box office with $42.9 million, while Angelina Jolie’s spy caper “Salt” debuted a solid No. 2 with $36 million.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Hollywood.com are:
