Heroic mailman saves 3 lives while on the job

AKRON, Ohio — Keith McVey is a dedicated postman. But it’s not the efficient way he handles his Akron, Ohio, route that has admirers honking their horns when they see him.

McVey occasionally takes time from delivering packages to save lives.

Last week, he threw aside a bundle of mail to perform CPR on an unconscious man on the side of the road. Two years ago, he pulled a drowning girl from a lake.

And nearly 20 years ago after seeing a teenager jump off a bridge, he covered him with blankets and helped keep him alive until an ambulance arrived.

The 53-year-old McVey is a bit uncomfortable about taking all the credit.

He says that after saving three lives, “I’m beginning to think there might be a little divine intervention of some sort.”
