Calif. port clerks to resume contract talks
LOS ANGELES — Union representatives for some 900 office workers at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach will resume negotiations with 14 shipping companies hours before their contract expires.
The clerical workers voted Tuesday night to authorize a strike. A walkout could disrupt operations at the nation’s largest port complex.
Union President John Fageaux (FUH-goh) says both sides planned to meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The contract expires at midnight.
