Some ER doctors call for end to LA Coliseum raves
LOS ANGELES — Some emergency room doctors say no more raves should be held at the Los Angeles Coliseum and Exposition Park after more than 100 young people were taken to hospitals during a weekend event.
The Los Angeles Times reported Monday that at least two people were in the intensive care unit for drug intoxication at California Medical Center. Another was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital comatose.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey says 114 people were transported to hospitals for various ailments, including falls and convulsions.
Organizers say the 14th annual Electric Daisy Carnival drew a total of 185,000 people on Friday and Saturday.
The Coliseum’s director of marketing Jon Lee calls the event “a success” and says the vast majority of attendees had a good time without incident.
