Pride Parade In Chicago Yesterday

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The Chicago Pride Parade, also known as Chicago Gay Pride or PRIDE Chicago was held yesterday, June 27, 2010 and it was considered the culmination of larger Gay Pride Month. The city was flooded with colors as the people wore different kind of dresses and there were many celebrities present on the parade to encourage it. This was 41st Annual Pride Parade and it showed that people irrespective of their background joined the parade.

In the Pride Parade there was country music star Chely Wright who joined the parade and waved at the people from the back of a white convertible. The singer was excited to be a part of the parade and said that she is overwhelmed by the response she has received after she declared that she is a lesbian. She called it to an emotional “breadth” of experience. Even Ernie Banks represented his team and also Blackhawks player Brent Sopel hoisted the Stanley Cup from above and the crowd cheered in joy. The students and parents from two of Chicago schools and also a group of 30 people from all branches of military also joined the parade to encourage it.

The Pride Parade of Chicago highlighted the issue of lesbian, gay, bisexual and also transgender community with same sex marriage rights and banning gays in the military. For people, this pride parade has become a local tradition and it recorded innumerable people joining and cheering. Pride Parade held always at the last Sunday of the Pride Month was also joined by religious, AIDS and other service groups along with politicians and office goers. For everyone, it was more of a celebration than a parade.
