MELBOURNE - A woman in this Australian city doubled her lottery winning after mistakenly buying two tickets for the draw. She won a cool $1.4 million.

The woman, who chooses her numbers by her children’s birthdays, bought an extra ticket that helped doubled her winnings.

“I thought my ticket had expired so I bought another one and accidentally doubled up in the weekend’s draw,” The Age quoted her as saying.

Each ticket won $742,311.37, taking her winnings to $1,484,622.74.

The winner said she needs time to think about how to use the money.

“One thing’s for sure, the family will have a holiday. We haven’t had one in years and years.”
