Suspected US missile strike kills 5 in NW Pakistan
MIR ALI, Pakistan — Pakistani officials say a suspected U.S. missile strike on a house has killed five people near the Afghan border.
Noor Ahmed, a senior government official in North Waziristan, says Sunday’s attack occurred near Miran Shah, the main town in the rugged tribal area. He says tribesmen have recovered five bodies so far.
Two intelligence officials confirmed the attack in the village of Tabbi Tolkhel. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
The identities of those killed in the attack were unknown.
North Waziristan is home to Taliban and al-Qaida militants who stage attacks against NATO troops in Afghanistan and against targets inside Pakistan.
