Jackson’s mother to attend tribute at boyhood home

GARY, Ind. — Michael Jackson’s mother is expected to attend a tribute at his boyhood home in Gary, Ind., that marks the one-year anniversary of his death on Friday.

City spokeswoman LaLosa Burns says Katherine Jackson will attend along with her granddaughter, Genevieve Jackson. Burns says Gary expects several thousand fans at the tribute, which will include speeches, performances and a candlelight vigil.

Workers on Tuesday were sprucing up the home. The house already has a new roof, a fresh coat of white paint, newly poured concrete along the walkway and driveway. New sod was being installed.

Jackson died June 25, 2009, of an overdose of sedatives. His personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter, and has pleaded not guilty.
