“To Kill A Mockingbird” 50th Anniversary

MONROEVILLE (GaeaTimes.com)- Harper Lee’s native town Monroeville is planning it big to celebrate the 50th anniversary of “To Kill a Mockingbird” on July 11. “To Kill a Mockingbird” which happens to be the second best selling novel of America after “The Kite Runner” has been one of the most loved novels in America which still holds a special place in the heart of readers.
Harper Collins the publisher of “To Kill a Mockingbird” shall be throwing a party and a scholarly discussion which will be attended by famous journalist of American Television Tom Brokaw. Along with him, many authors from all over American shall join in reading out memorable passages from the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird“. Harper Collins shall also publish four different editions of the novel which shall have four different cover pages. In a few days, these special edition novels shall hit the racks of the bookstore. As a matter of fact, the bookstore shall also witness a specially designed floor that shall have To Kill a Mockingbird as its theme.
To honor the 50th anniversary of “To Kill a Mockingbird” Monroeville shall have silent auctions, downtown tours and marathon reading of the novel. Following that there will be a lawn party at the county courthouse. “To Kill a Mockingbird” happens to be one out of a few novels which have maintained it’s rank of second best selling novel in the country over the long years. Not only did the novel became a favorite for one and all readers but over the years it has coined itself to be a cultural touchstone that the nation holds so dear.
