Dying American ‘Rambo’ nabbed in Pak may be released soon

ISLAMABAD - The American construction worker, who is currently in Pakistan’s detention on suspicion of wanting to kill Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden is likely to be released soon because of his deteriorating health condition.

A senior Pakistani official, who is associated with Gary Brooks Faulkner’s interrogation, said the American ‘Rambo’ would be released if there are no substantial evidence gathered against them.

“The US national will be released if nothing substantive is found against him after the interrogation. It should be done sooner than later because Faulkner is sick,” The Dawn quoted the official, as saying.

Faulkner, who was nabbed from North Pakistan’s Chitral region while on a solo mission to find and kill bin Laden, is said to be suffering from high blood pressure and kidney problems.

His sister Deanna Faulkner said Gary, 51, needed dialysis every three days but could survive without for up to two weeks.

“He only has nine per cent kidney function and the only thing that can cure him is a transplant. I’ m guessing that he wanted to do one last thing for his country before he die,” Deanne said.

Since 1981, Faulkner has been arrested at least 10 times on charges ranging from traffic offences to theft and domestic violence, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. (ANI)
