PESHAWAR - Bodies of six Frontier Corps (FC) officials have reportedly been retrieved from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas’ Mohmand Agency by a tribal jirga, as the search for over 30 missing security personnel, who were held captive by the Taliban, continues.

Over 65 soldiers went missing following an attack on a check post in Shonkarai area of Mohmand region earlier this week.

“They (Taliban commanders) were reluctant at first. However, after some arguments, they allowed us to take the bodies of 6 soldiers,” The Daily Times quoted a tribal elder,as saying.

“We are making efforts to find the remaining 34 soldiers. However, it is not yet clear whether the militants are holding these soldiers as hostages,” officials said.

Meanwhile, the 14 soldiers who were handed over to the Pakistan Consulate in Jalalabad on Thursday by Afghan officials have returned to Peshawar where they are being debriefed. (ANI)
