NEW DELHI - If you have complaints about your neighbour, are facing parking woes or want accident compensation — quick help is now at hand. Just a call to the Delhi Dispute Resolution Society (DDRS) can resolve issues fast in the capital.
The Delhi government Tuesday announced that it has established the DDRS to resolve disputes without having to resort to the court or the police. And it will be free of cost.
The measure was taken to control litigations piling up in various courts.
“The mechanism has been developed to control further increase of litigations in the courts and develop a sustained and durable mechanism of resolution of disputes,” M.L. Mehta, principal secretary (Law, Justice and Legislative Affairs) in the Delhi government, told reporters here.
The society would provide no-cost and low cost conflict resolution services, he added.
Mehta said the government is in the process of setting up district centres in all the nine districts and sub-centres attached to each consumer forum taking up cases relating to them. The first such centre came up April 15.
Sub-centres would also be set up in hospitals, schools and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).
Mehta said people can approach these centres if they have problems related to neighbourhood, parking, noise, fencing, family, maintenance, custody, guardianship, accident compensation and consumer affairs.
“At least 97 cases have already been resolved by the society till now,” he added.
The society has established mediation centres in Patparganj, Vikas Bhawan and Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Such centres are also coming up at Parliament Street, Rohini, Nand Nagri and Rajpur Road.
