PPP central leader calls for drone attacks to rid South Punjab from terrorists

LAHORE - While the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) led government has been opposing drone strikes in the restive tribal areas along the Afghan border, a central leader of the PPP, Abida Hussain, has called for similar missile hits in South Punjab, which has seen severe bloodshed in the recent past.

“If drone attacks can be made in Khyber-Pakhtoonkhawa and Balochistan, why cannot they be carried out in southern Punjab?” Hussain said while interacting with media persons here.

Hussain said that following the heavy loss of lives in the brazen terror strike on the two Ahmedi mosques it was imperative that civil and military departments start cooperating with each other to dismantle the ever expanding terror network in south Punjab.

“It is high time that all terrorist networks, in the southern Punjab or anywhere else, should be uprooted,” The Daily Times quoted Hussain, as saying.

She added that the PPP had ‘purposefully’ joined the Punjab government to ensure its presence in the assembly, so that all “conspiracies could be nipped in the bud.” (ANI)
