KUALA LUMPUR - A Malaysian man has been sentenced to 28 years jail and eight strokes of the rotan for getting his daughters drunk before raping them.

The two girls, aged 19 and 20, had been living in fear of their father for a long time, and when he brought them food and alcohol to celebrate his 40th birthday, they knew he would repeat his incestuous acts again.

Not able to withstand his sexual assaults anymore, the two along with their mother fled to a neighbour’s house, before lodging a police report, reports New Straits Times.

The man, now aged 46, was on June 4 sentenced by the Sessions Court to 28 years jail and eight strokes of the rotan on four counts of raping his daughters. The sentences would run consecutively.

Judge Balqis Aini Mohd Ali sentenced the contract worker after finding him guilty of committing the offences at their home in Puchong, twice in June and on August 16 and 17, 2004.

In mitigation, counsel Sashi Menon, who appeared for the accused, pleaded for leniency saying that his client had lost contact with his family.

The case has brought to mind the case of Josef Fritzl who was arrested in 2008 in Austria on similar charges. (ANI)
