GUJARAT, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Tata Motors which owns the cheapest car of the world, Nano has commenced its production at the Sanand Plant In Gujarat. Two years back it had to quit the plan of making the car in West Bengal following heavy political disruptions. However, the inauguration of the new plant was affected by the assault of cyclone Phet as it swept away the structure erected for that ceremony. Barely a few hours after Narendra Modi, the CM of Gujarat, and Ratan Tata, the Tata Group chairperson inaugurated the Rs 2,000-crore Sanand plant, the cyclone struck the venue. As a result the press conference following the inauguration was postponed by the company. The much awaited Nano Superdrive cross-country rally was called off too.
MD of Tata Motors, Ravi Kant, however beamed confidence and said that the dream of the company has been fulfilled after facing many obstacles. The plant was built and opened in record time the Tata motors officials revealed. Ratan Tata said he was thankful to the CM of Gujarat for his support and readiness to help in setting up the plant in the state. He said that the Tata group will make further investments in the state. Nano is the most affordable car as of now and despite the criticisms it has faced since its debut the sales have been decent.
Ratan Tata however, has more reasons to be happy. The Nano car, his dream child, is all set to be exported to Taiwan. The export ready cars may undergo modifications to adhere to the stricter emission norms of Taiwan.
