Outdoor Channel to cut production jobs

TEMECULA, Calif. — Outdoor Channel Holdings Inc., a television network operator that owns the Outdoor Channel, said Wednesday it plans to cut about 30 percent of its production services staff to improve profitability.

The company declined to say how many job cuts that would amount to.

Outdoor Channel had a total of about 222 employees as of the end of 2009, according to a regulatory filing.

It plans to take a charge of about $300,000 in the second quarter.

Its shares rose 14 cents, or 2.5 percent, to close at $5.69 before the announcement. They dipped 4 cents to $5.65 in afterhours trading.
