Big 12 ADs hopeful, cautious with expansion talk

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Big 12 athletic directors say they hope the league will stay intact amid rumors of defections to the Big Ten or Pac-10.

The officials emerged from a second day of meetings in Kansas City on Wednesday expressing hope. But they also admit they’re also looking at what options they might.

Nebraska’s Tom Osborne says he hoped something definite might be known after presidents and chancellors — who have the final say — begin meeting on Thursday.

The future of the 14-year-old league was thrown into question when the more lucrative Big Ten said it might look to expand. Missouri and Nebraska indicated they would be willing to listen if they were invited.
