Toddler killed by family dog

LOS ANGELES - A two-year-old boy was mauled to death by the pet dog of his family in California.

According to police, the boy was attacked by a family pit bull Friday when he was in the backyard of his home in San Bernardino. He suffered major head trauma and succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

The family owned two dogs. Both were removed from the home by Animal Control officials pending an investigation by the San Bernardino Police Department, Los Angeles Times reported.
